Hey, peeps!
Despite all the depressing news this week, I hope you had a great summer. It's a good time to get back into my blogging flow. I could use a bit of brightness.
They recently opened a Lush Handmade Cosmetics in Baltimore and I visited this past weekend to pick up a brick of hair henna and a couple of bath bombs. Both were amazing! I finally hennaed my hair :) The color isn't noticeable, but it feels amazing.
For the bath bombs--baths are my new favorite thing. A lazy bath after yoga class is a perfect wind down and it keeps me breathing deeply. But at $4-8 a pop a Lush bath bomb habit is expensive. Luckily bath bombs are easy and much cheaper, to make at home.
This recipe is a dupe of the Ickle Baby Bot bath bomb. With lavender, chamomile, and sandalwood it's great for relaxing and winding down.
Lately, almost all my extracurricular activities involve tying things into DIY wedding ideas. These would make great gifts in a care basket for bridesmaids--especially just before or after the wedding.
You'll Need:
1 C Baking Soda

You'll Need:
1 C Baking Soda
1/2 C Citric Acid, powdered* (for fizz) or Cream of Tartar (no fizz)
1/2 C Corn Starch
1/2 C Epsom Salts
1/2 C Corn Starch
1/2 C Epsom Salts
3 tsp Coconut Oil, melted
1 tsp Lavender Essential Oil
1/2 tsp Chamomile Essential Oil
1/2 tsp Chamomile Essential Oil
1/2 tsp Sandalwood Essential Oil
1 tsp Witch Hazel
5-6 drops of Food Coloring, any color of your choosing (optional)
In a large mixing bowl, add all of the dry ingredients together and whisk until combined.
In a separate, smaller mixing bowl add all of the wet ingredients together (essential oils, water, witch hazel, and food coloring) and stir.
Slowly combine the contents of the smaller bowl with the contents of the larger bowl and whisk until clumpy.
Use an ice cream scoop to form the mixture into a tight ball. Once the mixture is molded into a ball let it dry out for a day. This recipe makes a single bomb--double or triple it as desired. Extra bombs can be stored in an airtight container.

For cuter bombs, let them dry in shaped silicone muffin molds. You can also add glitter, dried flowers, and crushed herbs for a more luxurious experience.
Want a different scent? Simply change your essential oil type. Check out the Lush site for ideas.
* I found powdered Citric Acid in Whole Foods. Any decent health food store should have it.
Enjoy!
Enjoy!
Hugs and kisses peeps,
Bethany
