Welcome To My Blog!

Hey Guys!
Thanks for stopping by! So, I've been contemplating creating a blog for a while now and finally feel like I'm passionate enough to keep up with it! I'm excited about the chance to journal my experiences and share them with you! This will be a hub for everything important to me; my travels, attempts at new recipes, hairstyles, and makeup, BNHC (my hairclub), and other randomness!
Welcome to my blog!
A bit about me: I'm a native of South Carolina, uprooted in May 2010 and transferred to the Metro DC area for work as a medical librarian. I only knew a few people in the area and to help expand my network I founded a social organization, Baltimore's Naturals Hair Club. We meet monthly to discuss hair, beauty, fashion, current events, men, etc. Check us out if you're in the Metro Baltimore area, I'll be posting pics and summaries of our meets.
I love most outdoor activities, especially running and hiking. I coach for Girls on the Run DC, a non-profit dedicated to teaching girls to develop self-respect and healthy habits, and have a few hiking trips planned.
My current interests include traveling, baking, meeting new people, healthy living, and trying to decorate my apartment and office. I'll keep you posted on how it's going :)
I hope you enjoy!
Hugs and Kisses,
Bethany

  1. What is like being a librarian? I've been pondering getting an M.L.S.

  2. Hi Evelyn! The work for an MLS can be a bit of a drag, its more interesting if you can get a position in a library while working on the degree. With that being said, I love being a librarian! Its such a versatile profession, I have lots of opportunities for travel and professional development, I'm rarely stressed out over work, and my hours and pay are good. I'm happy with my choice.

Lots of librarians have had a previous career. There are lots of opportunities for under-represented groups too. I can speak highly of the following: http://www.ala.org/ala/educationcareers/scholarships/index.cfm

The profession is looking for young faces, so now's a great time to jump in. Let me know if you want to chat about things!

  3. Just now seeing this. I'd love to pick your brain about library life and education. I've been researching different schools that don't require GRE scores, have a YA & Children Services specialty, and are on the east coast. I'm working on writing my personal statement now.

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.
