Freelance Grant Writing, the BET Music Matters Tour, and Other Randomness

So, my posts have been a bit sporadic lately. Sorry, but I had this epiphany a few weeks ago that I should look into a profession as a Freelance Grant Writer. I write grants as a part of my current job, was an English major in undergrad, learned to research via my MLIS, and am accustomed to finding funding and sponsorships for BNHC. I think I could enjoy a level of success. The thought of doing my own thing--making good money, setting my own schedule, managing a business--is exciting. I'm not quitting my day job...yet...but it's a good side gig.

All that to say that in addition to my 9-5, organizing events for BNHC, classes, my social life, and being consumed by the grant writing profession--preliminary research, looking into classes, trying to find a mentor--I've been swamped.

I found the time to attend the BET Music Matters Tour in Baltimore this past Sunday, featuring Estelle and Luke James. It was Amazing!  I had such an awesome time!

I didn't previously consider myself an Estelle fan, I thought her music was just OK. After Sunday's performance though...wow...she won me over. She has a great voice, range, and her stage persona was sooo likeable. She was funny and quirky and all about girl power. I loved it. Estelle's new album, All of Me, dropped today! Check it out!

Luke James is sexy, and he's one of the best crooners I've heard live. That dude's voice has range! I'd never even heard of him prior to buying my tickets, in fact I was bummed that Elle Varner wouldn't be performing, but again...I was impressed.
Luke James!

It was a fully-seated event at Sound Stage Baltimore, semi-classy with a reasonably-priced menu of good food and drinks. They even had parking vouchers and posters for attendees at the end. Such an awesome way to spend a Sunday evening :)

Estelle in action below, with her single 'Thank You':
Happy Tuesday peeps!

Hugs and kisses,

Bethany
