Epilators, High Heels, and Other Painful But Necessary Things

Scary looking, right?
I hate shaving--I hate that stubbly look you get in between shaves, I hate that is quadruples my risk for ingrown hairs, I hate buying razors.

A couple of  months ago I decided that my end-of-year goal would be to drop mediocrity if it caused me the slightest discomfort or problems. I'm not settling on anything. Razors were the least of my concerns, but they had to go. Waxing is expensive and depilatories are harsh, so I decided to give epilators a try.

I can best describe an epilator as rows of electric tweezers (whereas a razor is rows of blades). They actually pluck your hair, instead of trimming it. They're about as painful as waxing, but like waxing, the pain diminishes as you get used to it and the results last for 2-3 weeks.

None of my friends use epilators, but Naptural85 does. She suggested the Emjoi Emagine. It had pretty good reviews and I was willing to try it.

I'm so glad I did! It leaves my skin super smooth and soft and I can use it everywhere, if you know what I mean ;) The first time I used it, I did take an asprin, then exfoliated and rubbed calming lotion on. I've dropped the aspirin since then.

The Emagine will run you about $120, but if you sign up for the Bed, Bath, and Beyond mailing list you get 20% off one item coupons every month. Maybe still a bit pricey, but you never have to replace the heads or any other parts. It leaves your skin smooth and clear--none of that shadow-y post-shave darkness. I'd high;y suggest it.

High Heels

I have a major presentation/proposal coming up--I found the perfect dress but needed a nude pump. I'm brown so my idea of nude is a bit darker than the norm. It took me ages to find and I had to pay for it, but Nordstrom's delivered--a pair of Schutz Cassie High Pumps. They make me feel like such a businesswoman. I think feeling the part is half the way to success <3

Wish me luck!

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany
