Lowcountry Weddings and Blending Cultures

One of my besties just got engaged--he's from Bangalore, India and she's an African-American from Columbus, OH. Her stories on blending both cultures in planning their wedding have been fascinating for a couple of reasons: 1.) While they're both Christians, those particular cultures are quite different and 2.) If things pan out with The Batman, I'll be blending a couple of cultures for my own wedding--he hails from a Native American/Caribbean background and I'm from a Southern, African-American family. When the Charleston Multicultural Bridal and Events Association announced an Expo devoted especially to mixed and multicultural couples, I knew we had to go!

I'm not expecting my own wedding for another couple of years, but I like to daydream. I would love a wedding in the SC Lowcountry--Charleston or James Island. I've never been to a wedding expo but I figure it's not jinxing to check one out with an engaged friend. And a bit of early planning usually never hurts--I'll be careful not to get too caught up.

We got super cheap rates on Southwest and are making it an unorthodox day trip. Fun!

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany
