Hey peeps!
I wrote a previous post on how I'd purchased a new, fancy MacBook Pro with Retina display. It was super exciting and I was so pleased with everything about it--except the price. I ended up using Apple financing to pay for it, which made me uncomfortable because I hate debt. Ultimately, I returned it and decided to save up for a few more months, until I could purchase it with cash.
I also decided to keep an eye on what was going on in the Apple Refurbished/Clearance web store. The products there are used, but they undergo a strict refurbishing process and come with a one-year warranty. You can also opt to purchase more protection with the Apple Care Plan (I always do, it's good for 2-3 yrs). Basically they will fix any ding or scratch or technical issue, no questions asked. It's kind of awesome :)
I've gotten an iPod touch and an Apple TV refurbished, and both have worked beautifully. The trick is catching the product you want--the good stuff gets snapped up pretty quickly.
This week I found what I was looking for.

It's an older release--June 2012, they upgraded the processing speed by .1GHz in Sept. 2012. But...it's a $500 savings!
I bought it :) It came in the mail yesterday (shipping took one day, very impressive!) and is absolutely gorgeous, and seems to work perfectly. I'm thrilled!
I've been on sort of an interesting MacBook journey--I had a Pro through Grad School that I adored. I purchased it with scholarship funds without blinking. Then, I went through a six-month Post-Grad School phase of having a bunch of bills and no real job. I sold the Pro and paid rent. Hard times. Then, I landed a great job, yay, and bought the first Macbook I could afford (with the help of Christmas funds)--the Air. Moving from the Pro to the Air was tough, I'm not a huge fan of the latter. Finally, three years into my carer, I've saved up enough to upgrade. Whew. I think I'll be sticking with this one for a while.
Check out the Refurbished Store, if you haven't already. It'll save you a few bucks.
Hugs and kisses,
Bethany
