Lost City Diner, Puerto 511, and My Love for BYOB Baltimore Eateries

This is a story all about how I discovered the epicness that is Lost City Diner.

Lost City Diner has been lying under my nose for a while--I've lived within blocks of it since moving to Baltimore nearly 5 years ago. ***I can't believe I've been in the DMV for five years! This
experience reminded me that I really need to explore more.***

Lost City is a bit sketch--just a little though. It's in an area that pushes the limits on how safe I feel walking around alone and the building isn't exactly inviting.

I like sweets--just scroll through my posts. When my friend suggested we go for ice cream in the middle of a snow storm, I was game. She claimed Lost City Diner had the best milkshakes in Baltimore--I was skeptical, but...ice cream!!!

I knew I was in for a good thing when I saw they had a blackberry-flavored shake. Also, a Best of Baltimore Award for Best Shakes #oooh I was impressed--the shake was delicious. Not too sweet, with a burst of blackberry flavor and an ideal texture. They do good shakes. I left happy.

Maybe a week later, I was wrapping up a late night outing and had a serious case of the munchies. Where to go for a meal at 2 am? I remembered Lost City and its epic menu. #allthebreakfastoptions I ordered pancakes, and eggs, and sausage--the pancakes were fried perfectly, with a crisp, crunchy perimeter and a buttery, smooth interior. #omg #drool The beau ordered a 1/2 lb burger topped with bacon, avocado, cheese sauce, and...get this...a scoop of fried macaroni and cheese. #overindulgent I stole a bite, or three, and it was heavenly. #everythingisawesome

Lost City is the best spot in the Station North/Mount Vernon neighborhoods, aka Midtown, for a late night meal and for milkshakes. It's got a cool diner vibe and a BYOB policy--very Baltimore. It's a bit more pricey than some diners, but still very reasonable and the menu is ridiculous.

Like I said, Lost City is a BYOB spot and though I haven't felt the need to BMOB to a diner,  I've found real value in bringing a good wine with me to Puerto 511, a Peruvian spot. We started with the Causa Sampler, and shared the Ceviche Clasico and the Arroz con Mariscos. Everything was delicious, I especially enjoyed the Ceviche. It's supposed to be the best in Baltimore, and if it isn't it's pretty close.

Grab your favorite spirit and check them out!

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany
