31 and Other Spring Things

Hey, 31! I had a birthday a couple of weeks ago, over the Easter holiday weekend. The weather was great, and Chicago was gorgeous...vibrant...stunning. It's easy to love the Chi when the weather is nice.

At 30, I really spoiled myself--revamped my wardrobe, splurged on electronics, bought better furniture, and traveled a bunch. This year, I'm scaling back--spending modestly and working with a minimalistic budget. I'm staying home more and improving a few skills--Photography and I still love cooking and baking and now pasta making, and I've learned to embroider! I'm thinking about opening an Etsy shop with embroidered denim...maybe. We'll see.

Bethany- Maxi SkirtSpeaking of Etsy, I got two birthday gifts this year. The first is the Bethany Maxi Skirt from the MelangeMode Etsy shop. LOVE. The name--the quality construction--the colors--the pattern--the high waist--the pockets! It makes me feel regal, and I love it so much.

And, I added to my camera collection. I've been working with the compact Fujifilm X100T, and it's been a great experience, so I'm happy to add another X-series camera--the full-bodied Fujifilm X-Pro2 with 2 lenses, the Fujinon 35mm f/1.4 lens and the Fujinon 56mm f/1.2. I joined a Chicago street photographers club, and we do a lot of night shooting. The X100T is terrible in low light, so I'm excited to see how the X-Pro2 with the 35mm f/1.4 lens does.

Happy Spring!

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany
