A lot of musical talent flowed through DC last week! I saw Ye and J @ the Verizon Center and V.V. Brown @ DC9.

'Watch the Throne' was what you would expect from a concert with Kanye West and Jay-Z: bright lights, heavy bass, all around flashiness, the Verizon Center brimming with an interestingly diverse crowd, and a great performance.
My favorite part of the night though, trying to understand how J and Ye are relevant to peeps with normal cash flow (like me!) and debating over chocolate ganache cupcakes and wine. I hail from the middle-middle class and can kinda relate, but quite a few of my friends have built empires from the ground. Gotta love that ambition :)
V.V. Brown at DC9 may have been the best performance I've ever attended. Seriously. I went solo, which I never do, but should do more often because people pay attention to you when you're alone. I guess that could be a bad thing, but in my case, it went really well. I met V.V.'s guitarist and her bass player, two awesome guys from L.A. They were super nice and had drinks with me before the show!
It was an intimate performance with an amazing crowd and an awesome band. V.V. performed a lot of singles from her upcoming album, 'Lollipops and Politics', giving us an exclusive sneak peak. I like 'Red Balloon', but 'Famous' might be the next single. Awesomeness!
Pics below! This blog has given me a reason to invest in a camera...these are pretty crappy. Sorry!
