Today was so busy. Seriously...I'm glad for it to be over.
I started the morning at 10 am, covering the Reference Desk where I'll be all day.
I immediately noticed the library was pretty full for a Saturday morning. Odd.
I spend a solid three-hours answering reference questions, taking phone calls, and settling people's wireless connection issues.
Lunch at 1. A welcome relief.
I come back at 2 to find that one of the toilet's in the women's restroom has overflowed. The kinds of issues you have to address when you're in charge. So, I phone the Emergency Maintenance number and they take care of it immediately. Nice.
Another three hours of steady reference requests. We're at a point in the semester when the first round of research papers are due.
At 5, our Security Officer comes to me with a concern about a door being held ajar. So, I make a round of the library, find the problem, and fix it. Nice again.
My last hour is pretty slow, but I'm still ready to bolt at 6. Release!
Librarians don't work on Sunday, so my work week is over!
That's a week in the life of a medical librarian, folks! Hope you found it useful!
