Losing My Debit Card

Up until about six weeks ago, I'd never been to Red Robin. So weird because I love burgers...like 60% of my restaurant orders are some type of burger...unless hot dogs are on the menu (Founding Farmers). Guess it's an American Girl kinda thing.

Remember American Girls? You were not cool if you didn't have one of those dolls.
*kidding not really :)

Anyway, a friend and I went shopping at Potomac Mills and on the way home decided to eat at Red Robin. It was seriously awesome. I ordered the Guacamole Bacon Burger, customized with a bit of bleu cheese and a milkshake on the side. Yes! So delicious and surprisingly cheap.

I got back to Baltimore and realized I'd left my debit card at the restaurant. Major fail.
The restaurant did have my card but it's not a short trip to Potomac Mills. It made more sense to order a new card and have my old one destroyed.

Then, I thought about something I've been wanting to try for a while. Using cash instead of debit.

Supremely old school, I know. But, it's supposed to be a sure fire way to track and save money. So, instead of replacing the card, I've been trying to get around without it.

It works. It's magic. It's scary.

I can't believe how much money I spent on spur of the moment stuff--books (curse that Union Station Barnes and Noble!), food, coffee, happy hour. It's so easy to swipe and go.

I am intensely jealous with cash, it's only allowed to venture from my wallet if I need or really want something, lol. The saving is going great.

Not having a debit card, though...hugely inconvenient, especially when attempting to make online purchases.

I think I'll end up replacing my debit card eventually, but will try to avoid using it. I'm holding onto my cash for now, we'll see how if goes.

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany
