She's Gotta Have It

hey...how is she not sinking?

I've decided I want a career that will allow me to afford a vacation home abroad and the time to visit it for about 3 months of the year. I want it in the next 5-7 years.

...

Yup. 

I can think of a couple of options--a 9-month faculty position or establishing myself as a successful freelance grant writer...or both. The faculty position would require a Ph.D, and the grant writing would require a lot of resourcefulness, hard work, and networking.

Hopefully, the summer lull will give me time to focus on becoming a more successful grant writer, and I'll figure out a plan for pursuing a Ph.D and obtaining a faculty teaching position (it should help that I teach courses already, right?).

The seed has been planted....it's been on my mind for the past few weeks...I can't stop thinking about it...I want it, badly. I'm going to make it happen.

Not sure where I want to live...someplace with a beach and yummy food. I'm getting to know House Hunter's International very well.

We'll see where I end up.

One more idea I've fallen in love with...the thought of owning a Jeep Wrangler. So random, but I just realized how ridiculously cute they are, and I really want my next car to be American Made. I'll have to remember how to drive a stick shift though.

I could change my mind about the car, but the living abroad thing is going to happen :)
