I had my braces tightened yesterday, my orthodontist had a summer break, so I had six weeks between appointments instead of four.
My bottom teeth have lined up really well. I had a couple of molars that finally rotated into the right position--my ortho had been using metal ties to get them going in the right direction. I stayed on the same gauge...just got a new wire.
The focus now is my top teeth. I still have the space left from having my primary tooth pulled and space between my canine and first molar.
I got new arch wires and my first experience with an elastic chain...you can just see it in the pic below...that grey plastic thingy stretching over the hole left from the retained tooth I had pulled. There's another one like it on the other side too. They're an extra pull to help get everything together. They're uncomfortable--I've had them for a day now and can feel it. Not too bad, though--I still eat whatever I want, just a little more carefully. Might be worse tomorrow.
I opted for copper colored bands this time around. They're pretty low key.
I'm back to standard flossing, reserving my Waterpik for days when I'm running behind. Apparently, it's not good to use all the time and flossing is still the best way to clean. Bummer! It takes me exactly 7 minutes to floss...I've timed it. I don't use mouthwash anymore, opting to swish for a minute with peroxide.
