Chilies are my new food besties. I'm amazed by how they can transform a standard dish like roasted chicken. I've been eating and cooking with them a lot. Some of the recipes I've tried, like jerk marinade, require grinding the chilies first. I'd been using my blender, but decided to invest in a mortar and pestle. A bit more manual labor, but worth it for the texture.
Speaking of blenders, I need a new one. My six-year old college blender conked out last week. It had a great run--from my first margarita to fruit smoothies to marinades and beyond. RIP blender. I'm looking to upgrade a bit--maybe not a Vitamix but a Blendtec or something similar.
I found this beautiful m&p by Le Creuset. Love it! The pestle is not to heavy and has great balance.
