I got reprimanded over the break for having too much of a web presence, so I took my blog offline for a bit. But that was boring. I'll tone things back, but I can't give up blogging completely. I'm addicted :)
I had such a great Christmas! Got to spend lots of time with friends and family, soaked up the warm weather of South Georgia, ate delicious food, drank lots, lots of sweet tea, saw Django Unchained and Les Miserables, and discovered an amazing cookbook: The Blue Willow Inn Bible of Southern Cooking #dopeness
I spent New Year's Eve with The Batman. He's becoming an increasingly consistent part of my life. #cuidado His Christmas gift to me: a ticket to the Inaugural Ball, but only if I went with him. Men. My gift to him: I accepted :)
The Information Architecture thing. oh, joy. It was meant for me. The pieces are falling into place so easily.
For example, I was excited to find out that Catholic University had IA classes in their School of Information Science, even though they didn't have a course of study that I could actually earn a degree in. I already have a Master's degree in Information Science, just with a different concentration. I was content with just taking classes for the knowledge.
But...the University of Baltimore offers a Graduate Certificate in Information Design.
I can not say how good it is to have a mentor that knows his stuff.
UB is blocks from my home, but the program can also be completed entirely online. Certificate holders are recruits for the D.S. in Information and Interaction Design program--it touts a 100% job placement record and the graduates BANK. I don't like to get caught up in money, but it's a factor and these figures made my jaw drop. It puts my librarian salary to shame. Granted most librarians only need a Master's degree. I'm not sure what I want, but I do love the IA work I've done so far. I'll finish the certificate program and see how I feel after that. First I have to apply though. I'm getting ahead of myself :)
A new year meant a critique of myself. I'm still living by this list of 11 Things To Know at 25ish. Funny how things that weren't an issue a year or so ago have become much more relevant (like staying out of debt!).
I resolved to take more pictures this year. I will do that! I will. Just as soon as I get a new battery for my camera.
I think I want to learn Spanish too. We'll see how that goes.
I missed blogging so, so much!
Hugs and kisses peeps,
Bethany
