Inaugural Ball 2013

I finally found the perfect ball gown in a little boutique in Old Town Alexandria--I'm easily pleased but my shopping buddy was super picky, so it took us a while to find this beauty. But, it was worth it! Real silk is a whole lot better than the polyester stuff I was going to settle with.

I went with a floor length emerald green, cowl neck silk gown by Haute Hippie. It's sleeveless, so I also went with a chunky gold bangle to offset my slender arms--that was the extent of my jewelry.  I added a wine colored clutch for an added pop of color, nude peep-toed pumps borrowed from a friend, and a pair of Ficcare hair clips to help manage my mane.

The Ficcare clips were a suggestion and gift from one of the Naturalistas in my hair club and they are amazing! I love the large one for a simple, elegant up-do, but the pair of clips are best for more elaborate styles. I have long, very curly, very thick hair but these clips hold it all up effortlessly  without me having to pull to tightly or use a ton of bobby pins. They're worth the price if you don't lose them!

I still need to figure out exactly how to do my hair--something high, and how to paint my face, but the dress part is taken care of!
