IA: The Process in a Diagram

Essentially, I'm presented with a bunch of data from various information sources that needs to be sorted into some means that will make it useful. It's up to me to learn the audience and the objectives/purpose of a project--some companies have very specific needs for the data, others are very broad. After I get a feel for what's needed I draft a proposal for a model that will fill those needs. I do this by creating an information graphic that I submit to said audience, then tweak as necessary until it does exactly what they want it to. Sometimes my graphic is a database that I've built from scratch, other times it's using a software package provided by the company. Either way, I have to be tech savvy and on top of the latest software.

I'm still a newby and I've still got a ton to learn. I'm starting classes for a Certificate in Information Design this Fall and I recently received a grant for the AIIM Taxonomy and Metadata Training Program. It's been a lot of hard work, but most of it paid off. I've got a ways to go, but I can totally see myself incorporating this into my interest in Health Services Research and Policy.

Dork post right off of Spring Break, right? Work hard, play hard.

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany
