Did you watch the Grammy's last night? I caught a bit of it before a late night Trader Joe's run. I mostly
wanted to see what Beyonce and Jay would do, and I have to say I was disappointed. I wish she would have been a bit more classy--mostly just that she would have closed her legs, stopped showing her behind, and maybe put on a little bit more clothes on mainstream TV. The performance was kinda tasteless and just, bleh. Not something I would sit down and watch with the kiddies. Sigh. My love/hate relationship with B--because that body though. Gives me hope for a decent after-pregnancy body. I want her to be a classier version of Rihanna, but I think they might be on the same level. I would expect that type of performance from RiRi (who I'm an undying fan of--can't explain why).
Anyway--I liked Pink's performance. Her vocals remained amazing despite her flying through the air and hitting complex ballet moves. And while I hardly understood a word Kendrick Lamar said, he and Imagine Dragons killed it with the energy.
On another note--Sunday nights is the worst time to visit Trader Joe's. The shelves were so picked over--no eggs, fresh spinach, bananas, tomato paste. Just spare yourself, and don't ever do that.
Classes start today! I'm super excited. I'm enrolled in two classes: Advanced Interface/Interactive Design and Information Culture. I'm really excited about Advanced Interface Design, it teaches advanced methods for building and structuring mobile apps and webpages. **happy dance** Information Culture is sort of an overview/analysis of current trends in IT. One of the main projects is to present an article for publication in a major journal by the end of the semester. I'm excited about the possibility of being published, and having guidance to get me there.
I was visiting the Batman's cave this weekend and helped myself to all 7 volumes of Unwrapped, the jazz series by Hidden Beach Recordings. Amazing. They make for the perfect background study music.
I've also started collecting LPs--I have a nice little collection of albums from Gladys Nights, The Supremes, and some steel band music. The limited space of my apartment is keeping my collection small, but I'm slowly expanding. I have my eye on Ms. Monae's Electric Woman LP.
My DC bestie and I are about to start a 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge. I usually have a green smoothie for breakfast anyway, but the recipes here are mostly new for me. I'll probably add chia seeds, MSM powder, Maca powder, and coconut oil to each of the recipes from the site.
