Despite today's snow, the weather this past Saturday was a beautiful reminder that warmer weather is right around the corner. I dropped all my homework, hopped on the train, and spent the entire day on the National Mall, people watching and soaking up the sun--straight chilling.
This Spring brings lots of great things: another birthday (28!), a couple of weddings, my first destination vacation with the boo, and I should finally be coming out of my braces. Yes! I've already started planning my look. A few staples I've picked up (or plan to pick up):
1. Hats. One of my besties has an amazing collection of sun hats. She's inspired me to twist my hair up, pin it back, and pick up a few pieces of my own. I found these on Etsy.
2. Colorful Blazers. I love blazers--If I'm feeling like my outfit might be too casual for work, they make an easy fix. Just throw one on and voila--professional dress. I have your standard assortment black, brown, navy, and neutral colors, but not a lot of color. I found these on Asos.com and they fit my petite frame just right!
3. Prints on Prints on Prints. I'm loving embroidery and bright prints on pants, dresses, and skirts. Especially on dresses and skirts. They're so feminine, fun, and flirty. These three looks are from Asos.com, again. Can you tell how much I love them? Asos Petites is the bomb.com and means these hems fall at just the right length.
4. Bright lips and eyes. I've been playing around with makeup a lot this winter--I recently dedicated half my desk to serve as a vanity! My MAC consultant told me I had a pair of the sexiest eyes and lips he's ever had the pleasure of working with. *blush* He showed me how to mix a few colors to really make my features pop. My favorites:
5. Kimono Sleeves. My obsession with Kimona sleeves is that they're just so breezy--they're like a liberated long sleeve. To me, they channel the idea of Spring.
6. Show Some Skin/That Waist Is The End All. This winter I made it my mission to have radiant, glowing skin by summer. After doing a 21-day raw food cleanse then slowly incorporating commonly known trigger foods back into my diet, I found out that I'm gluten-sensitive and it's likely what triggers my eczema. I've been much more careful about what I eat and have noticed a gradual but consistent improvement. Yay for health benefits! Boo, to limitations on my diet.
I traded in running outdoors and have been in the gym all winter, spending a lot of time on the Stairmaster, focusing on getting the perfect legs and butt. It's worked, and having a rounder bum means my waist looks incredibly tiny. I'm really kinda feeling myself and bought a couple of cute dresses to show off :)
7. Black Tie. I'm finally being invited to events that require formal dress. I'm teaming up with one of my creative, sewing-enabled friends to recreate these looks. So dope!
9. Shoes, of course.
10.) The Perfect Umbrella--because smart, pretty girls prepare for rainy days. My favorite umbrella is the Samsonite Windguard. I found one in giraffe print. It is perfect :)
