AfroPunk 2014

AfroPunk 2014 went down this weekend. Gah! It was amazing, squared. Every visit to NYC leaves me
more and more enthralled.

I love Lianne La Havas' music and she sang her heart out in a birthday performance, where she also dropped a few singles from her upcoming album. She is muy gifted and has an incredibly sweet stage presence. A definite friend in my head. The AfroPunk lineup also included Valerie June, Alice Smith, SZA, D'Angelo, and more. #memorymaking

After the concert Saturday night, we headed over to The Brooklyn Star--a spacious Southern-inspired restaurant just off the Metro, with a 2 am closing time. It was the perfect post-concert eatery with great food--the fried chicken was on point and they even have Kool Aid on the menu! #moreplease

The experience makes me want to move to NYC.

Anyway, while I was off playing at AfroPunk The Batman was at Trillectro. I was so bummed that they overlapped the two festivals. Whose idea was that and why?! I hear Trillectro was dope--The Batman even met Quinta B, one of my new favorite comedians. #jelly She is soo funny. And, he got to see Rae Sremmurd perform the infectious 'No Flex Zone'. I will unabashedly admit that I have wildly danced around my apartment to that song...and on multiple occasions.

I love music and I have a new appreciation for classic soul and jazz--that being fed by DC culture and a friend with an envious LP collection, but dancing around to club hits is still my favorite stress buster. #goodvibes

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany

PS--I'm currently working on a post for DIY Washi Tape Inspired Table Settings for Weddings and Formals Events. It's been so much fun and I can't wait to share :) Be on the lookout!
