The Holidays 2014: Plans and a Wishlist

Hi guys!  It's been a while! How are you?

I walked into CVS and they have Christmas stuff out--and it hit me. It's friggin November!

The next couple of months are packed. I'm applying for PhD programs, an application I put in with the feds three months ago actually yielded a call for an interview, and I'm wrapping up the requirements for my certificate in Information Architecture. Plus life as usual with work, family, and friends. My roomie calls me a balla--not because I bank but because I'm always doing something new. She's right. I'm a balla. I'm a balla. I'm a balla.

I keep telling myself that because I am incredibly nervous about the future. I'm super anxious about interviewing. My last fed interview saw me making it to the top three candidates and not being picked. It hurt my heart. This time around, I'm prepping harder. If things don't pan out, I'm going back to school full-time. I'm not so anxious about getting into grad school, but the thought of being a student full-time makes me nervous. I will probably be broke--unless I do a bit of freelance IA work. Then I won't be broke, but it means I need to build connections now, with my professors and classmates. Also, I have to take the GRE and I haven't looked at a real math equation in about, ah, 7 or so years. #gah

Of course, everything needs to be done right now. Grad applications are due by the first of January, the interview is at the end of the year, and all my classwork is due and the semester ends in mid-December.

Y'all know I have to balance work with play, for the sake of my sanity. I'm going home for Thanksgiving, per usual. Yay! Visiting a sweet friend in Seattle for Christmas. Yay! Then jetsetting my buns for fun in the Mexican/Peruvian sun to welcome in the new year. Sweet!

And, Christmas is around the corner. My wish list:

Frye Boots: Courtney Lace-Up--size 6.5, tan

Black beret

It Could Be So Simple by Xavier Payne-- very dope art by a really cool dude. There's an empty spot right next to my copy of The Coiffure Project :)

In-Ear Noise Cancelling Headphones

Bose Soundlink in Red-- because I love dancing around my apartment, especially while cooking :)

Refurbished iMac-- my programming skills are slowly improving, but I'm quickly becoming a much better designer. Time for a desktop workstation.

Airport Time Capsule--I want all the space #roar #storagemonster

100 Pouches of Might Leaf Chamomille Citrus or Tea Master Sampler--I want all the tea! #sip

LPs--I'm collecting records, all good music will have a good home :)

Satin headscarves (any color or print)
