Attending the HxR Conference put a lot of balls into play.
1. A CommunicateHealth internship is a definite possibility.
2. HHS is hiring student trainees, up to GS-11, which would consider my work experience. The work schedule is full-time, but flexible for class schedules. I'd also be able to apply for the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion Visiting Scholars and Residencies program as an HHS Emerging Leader. Trainees have the option to transition into permanent positions. Apply on USAJobs!
3. Two major literacy and design projects are happening this summer in the usability lab. If I want to get involved, I'm more than welcome.
Last night was Week 1 of Ruby training and it went really well. We used repl.it to run Ruby--the application will run most of the more popular languages. The first week was an intro to basic programming strategies. Intro to Ruby reminds me a lot of Javascript basics. I had a blast. It took me a minute to get back into a programming mind, but we have practice homework!! I'm excited for homework <<<nerd :)
Hugs and kisses peeps,
Bethany
