A Bridge to Belize

Hi, Guys!

A large part of my work in health communication focuses on cultural diversity, so I'm super thrilled to be a part of the A Bridge to Belize Study Abroad Project this coming summer. #gah

A Bridge to Belize is a short-term study abroad, grounded in experiential learning and focused on cultural diversity and environmental sustainability. The course is structured as a six-week session that begins in the classroom, three weeks prior to departure. Then, students spend 11 days in Belize and report out in a post-trip class. While in Belize, we'll immerse in Belizean culture and engage with nature by exploring caves, reefs, rivers, and rainforests.

The program also includes snorkeling, canoeing, horseback tours, and national park visits. And, it's super affordable--student cost is $1,850 plus travel insurance, tuition, and some meals.

Small group sizes mean students can pursue activities that complement their academic background--I'll be shadowing local health care providers and observing how they use technology. The program is limited to 16 students and the course is an examination of themes associated with sustainability--such as economics, equality, health, and the environment.

It's gonna be so much fun!

Fun Fact--Belize is in Latin America, but it's an English-speaking country. It's a great place to practice Spanish!
