Current Read: Year of Yes

Image result for year of yesHi guys! Ummm, so I absolutely loved Shonda Rhimes' Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand In the Sun and Be Your Own Person. It was so good. It was everything. I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Shonda Rhimes herself, and it was so much more than a self-help book, so much more than a memoir. I don't even know what to call it aside from amazing and fascinating and funny and wholly entertaining. It made me evaluate my life, things I love and dislike about myself and it reminded me that saying yes to myself might mean no to someone else--sorry NOT sorry, and that it's ok to be an empowered (black) woman. It was funky and original and Afrocentric and I loved it.

Go read (listen to) it! You won't regret it. The Audible version is amazing and includes the actual speeches she references, but the print/digital book has colored pictures--Kindle + Audible might be the best.

Also, I went to my first book club meeting tonight and had so much fun--lots of great discussion and a great group of ladies! Yay!

Hugs and kisses peeps,

Bethany
