Coffee Coconut Body Scrub

Image result for coffee scrubThe first of a two-part series, I wanted to share a couple of my favorite body scrubs. To meet my needs, a scrub needs to 1.) be completely natural and organic, if possible, 2.) help even out my skin tone, 3.) be luxuriously moisturizing, and 4.) smell good.

I have to add a plug here about how life-changing finding a homeopath has been in helping me re-think how my actions impact my health.

Before getting in the shower, use a body brush to exfoliate and stimulate blood flow. Brush lightly in a circular motion all over your body, with special attention to problem areas. This step feels so good, like a mini massage, and it acts to gently exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin cells and stimulate blood circulation.

This Coconut Coffee Scrub is a four ingredient powerhouse. Use it regularly, 2-3 times a week, for noted improvements in skin tone.

Ingredients
1 C Coffee. Coffee gently exfoliates the skin and the caffeine it contains tightens and provides antioxidants to the skin when applied topically.
1/4 C Coconut Oil. Coconut Oil is naturally anti-microbial and super hydrating to help restore moisture to dry skin.
1/4 C Shredded Coconut or Coconut Flakes. Coconut flakes act as little exfoliators, gently buffing away dry skin.
2 Tbs Epsom Salt. An awesome exfoliator, Epsom Salt contains magnesium and sulfate which are natural detoxifiers when absorbed through the skin.

Directions
1. Fill an empty jar with 1 cup coffee grounds and 1/4 cup coconut oil.
2. Add 1/4 C coconut flakes.
3. Add 2 tablespoons of Epsom salts.

A little goes a long way, so grab a palmful and scrub all over the body--including the face, in an upward motion towards the heart. This helps get your blood circulating and stimulates the lymph.

Rinse.

Clean up caution! This causes a bit of a mess in the shower and can create a very slippery floor, so be careful.

One batch lasts about 2 weeks. If you want a longer shelf life, it can be refrigerated but let it sit for 30 minutes at room temperature before using it, as the coconut oil will solidify.
