I graduated undergrad 9 years ago! It's been a productive time, and the graduation gift I gave myself still stands as one of my best life decisions--learning to handle my hair without chemicals, giving up relaxers, and going natural!
My hair is interesting, I have a mix of strand density--some strands are really fine while others are super dense, and I have a mix of curl patterns--those fine strands have a looser curl than the dense ones so my pattern ranges from 3c-4c. It's nearly impossible to get a sleek blowout without damaging the finer hairs. I learned that lesson after getting serious heat damage about 2 years in. I had to do a massive cut. That hurt. Overall though, it's been an amazing experience.
After nearly a decade of loose natural hair, I've decided to loc! Sisterlocks, to be exact. Sisterlocks are tiny, interlocked hair with more movement and flexibility than most standard locks. I've been in love with the look for a while now--mature sisterlocks are stunning.
I'm so excited! I'm in the process of choosing a consultant and am meeting the first one tomorrow in Indy. I'm lucky enough to be able to choose between locticians in two large cities--Indianapolis and Chicago are both easy to get to, so I have lots of options. This is a whole new journey and I want my guide to be a good one, so I'm taking my time to find the best fit.
I'll keep you updated on how it goes.
Hugs and kisses peeps,
Bethany
